Testimonials from our clients about the TGAC Travel Service

Example 1: The Eschberger - Ihlo German Ancestry Tour:
This wonderful custom trip took 12 members of the Eschberger and Ihlo families from Texas on a very special journey. We saw many beautiful tourist attractions but the centerpiece of the trip was the visit of the region where their German ancestors came from - Woerlitz and Serno in Saxony-Anhalt. We had the privilege to see the original church registers with the baptism records from the late 1700s and the early 1800s, we got a special tour guided by Serno's mayor and we have met living Eschberger descendants... A great and unique custom trip with long lasting memories and much fun...

Example 2: The Knaus German Ancestry Tours 2010 and 2011:
This individual custom trip took 3 members of the Knaus / Gauggel / Lehleiter families on a wonderful journey to the places of their ancestors and to living relatives. Together with TGAC, they did more family history research in Germany with the help of local historians and new found family members. Prior to the trip, TGAC successfully contacted people in the region carrying the names Knaus and Gauggel - The village greeted the visitors with a big party and it took only a few hours for the relatives on both sides, the German and the US, to connect. The party was followed by days of getting to know each other, exchanging stories, memories, pictures... We got a special tour guided by Harthausen's former mayor through the historical museum, to the church, the cemetery and many more interesting places - always accompanied by the new friendly family... We also traveled through Southern Germany - off the beaten tourist tracks. Another special tailor-made trip to German ancestors' places and family roots with long lasting memories and much fun... In 2011, one of the 2010 group members returned to Germany on an individual German Ancestry Tour - to get to know her relatives better and to learn more about her German ancestry.

Example 3: The Abrahams-Stark trip to Germany 2011:
This was a special custom day excursion for the Abrahams couple to the birthplace of Mr. Abraham's mother. They were on a riverboat cruise on the Main river in Germany and one stop was Wurzburg - only about 25 kilometers away from Uffenheim and Ermetzhofen. We have arranged a visit of the Jewish cemetery when the Abrahams were accompanied by the mayor of Ermetzhofen who also invited them for lunch at a local small country pub. In Uffenheim, the mayor also joined us for a museum visit, where the curator had prepared a display of books and records they have saved over time. For the history the Abrahams were able to photograph all documents, items and gravestones. They say, this was the highlight of the entire trip.

Example 4: The Rohde family German Ancestry Tour 2011:
For this custom tour for 4 members of the Rohde family we created a special and very exciting combination of a German Ancestry Tour and a German Christmas Market Tour in late November / December 2011! Starting in Frankfurt, we traveled North to the Baltic Sea coast. On the way we stopped at the impressive museum of the German Emigration Center in Bremerhaven where you get a realistic impression of the situation of Germans who have left their home country. We have made arrangements to meet pastors, mayors, locals and members of local historical societies and the Rohde family was always very welcome and enjoyed great German hospitality. They got to search in original church books and got a deep insight in the local history of their ancestors' places. On top of this family roots experience we have visited several authentic German Christmas Markets, historic towns, palaces, churches etc. and we have savored tasty local German food specialties, beer, wine...

Example 5: The Hearne family German Ancestry Tour 2011:
This custom guided trip took a couple from Vermont to the places of their German family roots! Starting in Berlin, we
traveled South to the beautiful Thuringian Forest. There they learned - among others - that a grandfather was an apprentice of one of the most famous German automobile engineer of the time in the early 1900s before he emigrated to America! We have again made arrangements to meet pastors, mayors,
locals and members of local historical societies who all were happy to share their knowledge and who helped finding more information. The most surprising part of this tour was that we were able to find - and meet - actual living relatives on several sides of the family. These are priceless new connections which will outlast the trip and which will eventually lead to another trip to Germany with a whole new character. As always we added sightseeing to the tour program and we enjoyed authentic local German food, beer, wine...
